California Preschool Instructional Network

We help ensure preschool children are ready for school.

During the 2003-2004 school year, the CDE's Child Development Division, in partnership with the CA County Superintendents Educational Services Association, initiated the California Preschool Instructional Network (CPIN). Eleven regional networks were established. LACOE serves Region 11, which is Los Angeles County. In 2016, this work was expanded to include Transitional Kindergarten as well.

The goals of the network are to:

*Establish and maintain a regional network of administrators and leaders of early care and education/school readiness programs.

*Develop and/or support regional communication and collaboration systems among various stakeholders in early care and educaton/school readiness.

*Promote smooth transitions from preschool to kindergarten for all children, including English Language Learners and those with special needs.
