District Assessment & Accountability Network (DAAN) – Region 11 (Los Angeles County)
District personnel responsible for Testing, Assessment and/or State and Federal Accountability meet together on a bi-monthly basis to gather information and share ideas related to assessment and accountability. In addition to reviewing State Board of Education actions and updates from the California Department of Education, DAAN members are using
Advancing Formative Assessment: A Guide for Instructional Leaders
to facilitate their work in the area of using formative tools and processes in instructional practice.
Education Code
60603 defines
formative assessment
as: “Assessment tools and processes that are
embedded in instruction
and are used by teachers and pupils to provide timely feedback for the purposes of adjusting instruction and to improve learning.”
