2016 California Educator Excellence Summit
Request for Presenters: Deadline Extended Until December 9
It’s not too late to submit a proposal for the 2016 California Educator Excellence Summit (Summit). The California Department of Education (CDE) is seeking experienced and engaging presenters and invites you to submit a formal proposal for review. Interested applicants must review and complete a Presenter Proposal Form and Presenter Assurances for the Summit. To be considered, completed forms must be received by 5 p.m. on December 9, 2015, to the CDE, Educator Excellence Office, at 1430 N Street, Suite 4309, Sacramento, CA 95814.
The Summit will take place on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, in Sacramento, California, and will feature Linda Darling-Hammond as the invited speaker. CA ELA/ELD Framework Launch Events
Registration is available for an upcoming launch event for the CA English Language Arts/English Language Development (ELA/ELD) Framework. The event will be held on January 29 in Los Angeles. Another launch event will take place on April 25 in Santa Clara, with registration available soon. Using guidance, examples, and instructional models from the ELA/ELD Framework, the sessions help support teachers, schools, and districts implement the California Common Core State Standards (CA CCSS) for ELA/Literacy and the CA ELD Standards.For more information and links to registration, please see the flyer for the Los Angeles event (PDF) and feel free to share it with your colleagues. CA CCSS Instructional Leadership Guide Now Available
The CDE is pleased to announce the availability of the California CA CCSS Instructional Leadership Guide. This online resource is intended to serve as a companion to California’s Mathematics Framework and ELA/ELD Framework and to build the capacity of instructional leaders to address some of the complex questions and challenges related to the implementation of the new standards. Developed in collaboration with the El Dorado County Office of Education and Butte County Office of Education, this guide includes videos featuring California instructional leaders and classrooms, discussion prompts, connections to the California Professional Standards for Education Leaders, and more. Explore the guide today, housed on the Digital Chalkboard, and consider how it may be useful to your site.
