“Mental health and wellness are just as important as good instruction. To learn, our children must be emotionally healthy. LACOE is committed to providing students, staff and families with the resources and support our community needs as we continue safe social distancing across Los Angeles County. If we stay connected to our students and each other, even from a distance, if we have kindness and compassion in our hearts, if we take care of one another, we will get through this difficult time together.”

• 5 Tips for Parents
Topics and suggested text for social media posts include:
Take a Moment to Breathe. Children of all ages need time each day to unplug, relax, focus and just breathe. This break helps children function more effectively and clearly.
Create a Family Journal. Place a notebook in a central location in the house. Each family member can draw, ask questions and share what’s on their mind.
Nurture with Nutrition. Try to eat healthful, well-balanced meals with plenty of fruits and vegetables. And remember to stay hydrated!
Follow Safe Online Practices. Privacy experts recommend several steps to help ensure that your child is safe and comfortable online.
Know what sites your child is visiting.
Be aware of how your child is interacting online.
Talk to your child about commenting online and how to best handle comments from others.
Check that your child’s device has the privacy settings on and is running the latest antivirus programs.
Get Some Sunshine (Go Outside). The day can go by very quickly, so be sure to get some sunshine and movement.
