Dr. Hernandez joins us from Cal State University, Los Angeles and brings more than 20 years of experience in public education and mental health. Her professional background includes working directly with schools, families and communities in a variety of settings including child welfare and attendance, counseling, K-12 administration and clinical mental health.
She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist whose areas of expertise include dropout prevention and intervention, student engagement, bullying, trauma, crisis counseling and school-based family counseling.
A leader in the field, Dr. Hernandez brings a unique perspective to working with educators and school systems to enhance access to mental health services. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a master’s degree in Counseling in Marriage and Family Therapy and School Counseling from Cal State LA and a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from USC.
