
Academic Support for Students in Foster Care
LACOE Foster Youth Services Coordinating (FYSC) Program Academic Support is a service to help connect tutoring resources with students in foster care that need academic support.
2017-2018 Tutoring Referral
Please review the terms below before submitting a referral:
- Funding for Foster Youth Services can only be used for students (ages 4-21) residing within Los Angeles County who have an open DCFS/Dependency court case or an open Probation/Delinquency court case, living in a suitable placement.
- Check with the student’s school or school district for possible academic support services prior to submitting a referral.
- Refer a student ONLY if there is a SIGNIFICANT NEED for services. Services are based on need and funding availability.
- DO NOT refer a student if they are already receiving academic support services.
- DO NOT refer a student who has not agreed to the services.
- DO NOT refer a student whose caregiver has not agreed to the services.

Service Details:
- This referral form is valid for the period July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018 only.
- Students may be eligible to receive up to 20 hours of academic support, which may end prior to June 30, 2018.
- Requests for higher-level course tutoring require proof of coursework prior to services provided.
- Services are designed to be one-on-one in-home tutoring with adult supervision.
