LACOE Host Meetup at ASU+GSV AIR SHOW

Several education experts from Los Angeles County will be presenting at the conference. LA County PreK-12 educators are also invited to a Meetup event on Sunday.

The ASU+GSV AIR Show, taking place April 13-15, 2024, at the San Diego Convention Center, will bring educators, entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, and technologists together to explore how artificial intelligence is revolutionizing the education landscape. Several education experts from Los Angeles County will be presenting at the conference.

The AIR Show (AI Revolution in EDU) will delve into critical topics, bringing together teachers, learners, and leaders at all levels to explore and unlock the transformative power of AI for education. From thought-provoking discussions to interactive workshops, this event will empower educators, innovators, and learners to harness the limitless potential of AI in education.

On Saturday, Los Angeles County Board of Education member Andrea Foggy-Paxton will be presenting with Meisha Porter from the Bronx Community Foundation and Jeff Livingston with The Center for Education Market Dynamics. Their session is called “Equity in the Age of Generative AI: Will AI Be Something We Do Or Something Done To Us?” at 2:15 p.m. to 2:40 p.m.

On Sunday, from 10:05 a.m. to 10:25 a.m., Dr. Melissa Moore, El Segundo Unified School District Superintendent will be joined by Jerry Almendarez, Santa Ana Unified School District Superintendent in a panel entitled "AI Policy: How Districts Are Getting it Done."

From 11:20 a.m. to 12:10 p.m., Dr. Christopher Hoang, LACOE’s Assistant Director, Technology Innovation and Outreach will be speaking with a panel on “The Promise and Perils of AI in the Classroom: What Educators Really Think About the Technology”. The panelist includes Dr. Karla Estrada, LAUSD Deputy Superintendent of Instruction; Dr. Gudiel Crosthwaite, Lynwood Unified School District Superintendent; Julie Evans, Project Tomorrow CEO and Alan Arkatov, Executive Director of the Learning Transformation Studies at Arizona State University.

LA County PreK-12 educators are invited to a Meetup on Sunday from 1:50 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Exhibit Hall A Meetup Lounge, hosted by LACOE and the Greater Los Angeles Education Foundation.

Also that afternoon, Dr. Moore will be presenting again from 3:30 p.m. to 4:10 p.m. with Erik Burmeister from Solutionary Advisors in a session entitled "A Community Empowerment Approach to AI Implementation."

The ASU+GSV AIR Show will showcase more than 100 leading AI in EDU companies and feature hands-on workshops, live demos, insightful keynotes, and fun community building. Registration is free. View a list of the programming schedule here
