Nine LA County Schools Recognized as Model Continuation High Schools

Statewide, 31 schools were selected this year and will be recognized at the CCEA Plus State Conference next month.
Nine schools in Los Angeles County have been recognized by State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond as Model Continuation High Schools for 2024. Model Continuation High Schools provide comprehensive services to at-promise youth through exemplary instructional strategies, flexible scheduling, guidance and counseling services. The continuation school model offers a high school diploma program for students who have not graduated from high school, are required to attend school and are at not on track to complete their graduation requirements.
“These schools are recognized for their innovative programs, supportive environments, and commitment to helping students reach their full potential,” said Dr. Debra Duardo, Los Angeles County Superintendent of Schools. “This is a tremendous honor that reflects the dedication of our educators and staff to providing all students with the opportunity to succeed. Congratulations to all our Model Continuation High Schools.”
Statewide, 31 schools were selected this year and will be recognized at the California Continuation Education Association Plus (CCEA Plus) State Conference next month in Los Angeles. More than 430 continuation high schools serve close to 51,000 students throughout the state. Model Continuation High Schools excel and provide exceptional opportunities for their students to pursue academic and social success.

The Model Continuation High School Recognition Program is a collaborative partnership between the California Department of Education (CDE) and the CCEA Plus. Schools operate their own exemplary programs, but Model Continuation High School-recognized educators commit to supporting and mentoring their peers in other local educational agencies.
