In an effort to support Los Angeles County's ongoing commitment to creating equitable learning environments where staff and students thrive, the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) is pleased to announce its second annual Equity and Wellbeing Conference. 

The 2025 Equity and Wellbeing Conference is an inspiring event designed to ignite positive change in education. This dynamic gathering will feature thought-provoking keynote speakers, interactive sessions and wellness activities tailored specifically for educators. KEYNOTE AND FEATURED SPEAKERS

Dr. Bettina L. Love

Dr. Bettina L. Love is the William F. Russell Professor at Teachers College, Columbia University and the author of the best-selling Punished for Dreaming: How School Reform Harms Black Children and How We Heal. A nationally recognized scholar on abolitionist education and Black joy, she is the founder of the Center for Black Educator Development and a former Harvard Radcliffe Fellow. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Education Week.

Dr. Tyrone C. Howard

Dr. Tyrone C. Howard is the Pritzker Family Endowed Chair and professor at UCLA. A nationally regarded expert on educational equity, he has authored over 100 scholarly works, including Why Race & Culture Matter in Schools: Closing the Achievement Gap in America's Classrooms and Equity Now: Justice, Repair, and Belonging in Schools. He is the founder of the UCLA Black Male Institute and a member of both the National Academy of Education and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

We are looking for engaging, informative and actionable sessions that provide attendees with creative ideas and promising practices that attendees can take back to implement in their schools and districts.

Sessions must reflect one of the six following strands:

  • Fostering Culturally Responsive Family and Community Partnerships

  • Centering Education Wellbeing in Equity Work
