Every day, classified school employees across Los Angeles County work behind the scenes to ensure students are safe, supported and ready to learn. From transportation and food services to technical support and student health, their impact is immeasurable. Each year, LACOE proudly honors these dedicated professionals through the Classified School Employee of the Year (CSEY) program.

Coordinated annually by our Personnel Commission office, this program invites districts across the County to nominate outstanding employees in nine statewide categories.

This year, nine exceptional County-level winners were selected for their service, leadership and unwavering commitment to students and school communities:

We’re especially proud to share that Pamela Larsen (San Gabriel USD) was selected as the statewide winner in the Security Services category and was honored by State Superintendent Tony Thurmond in Sacramento on May 22. Additionally, Rodolfo “Roy” Melendez (El Monte City SD) represented L.A. County at the state level as our nominee in Technical Services.

These honorees are more than just employees—they are trusted mentors, community builders and champions of student success. Their work reminds us that it takes a team to educate, uplift and support every learner.
