Dominguez High School Receives ACAC School of Excellence Award

The Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) and the College and Career Readiness/AVID Unit announce a historic first for Los Angeles County; Dominguez High School was awarded California’s 2025 American College Application Campaign (ACAC) School of Excellence. This Compton Unified School District high school is the first school in L.A. County to earn this national honor and the only school in the State to receive this award for the 2024-25 school year. The award was presented on May 9, 2025, during the school’s Senior Signing Day.

The ACAC School of Excellence Award is presented annually to one school in each participating state, honoring outstanding efforts to ensure that all students have equitable access to postsecondary opportunities. Schools recognized with this award demonstrate exemplary commitment to increasing college and career readiness, building school-wide college/career-going cultures, and removing barriers that often prevent students from pursuing higher education.

Dominguez High School has long been a leader in this work. Through intentional planning, campus-wide collaboration and systems of support, the school has significantly increased the number of seniors completing college applications and meeting A-G college eligibility requirements. Their work has also served as a model for other high schools across L.A. County as they share their best practices with partner districts and schools engaged in the Future Ready California and American College Application Campaign initiatives.

Congratulations to the students, staff and leadership of Dominguez High for their outstanding achievement and continued commitment to equity and student success.
