The School Mental Health (SMH) program is an integral part of LACOE’s Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) framework, designed to support the whole child by recognizing mental health as essential to student learning and growth. Committed to the success of every student, the program fosters student well-being and academic engagement through mental health promotion activities, resiliency skill building, early identification of students in need of support, and equitable access to multi-tiered intervention services.
Our team provides short-term mental health and wellness services designed to increase student engagement and attendance at our LACOE Specialized Schools IPoly and LACHSA as well Renaissance PAU county community schools and Los Padrinos, Juvenile Court Schools. The School Mental Health Program is led by our Coordinator III, who oversees the program and its implementation. Our team includes three School Mental Health Practitioners, a Senior Program Specialist, and a Coordinator I who supports our LACOE schools. The School Mental Health Program also hosts graduate-level interns from the Wellbeing and Support Services Internship Program, who are supervised by members of the SMH team and help implement MTSS levels of support across our schools.
