Families, Educators and Administrators Invited to Early Education Conference

The early years of a child's life are crucial for brain development. To help families provide the best possible start in life for our youngest learners, the Los Angeles County Office of Education is hosting a three-day conference dedicated to the vital cause of early childhood education. The Head Start and Early Learning Division’s “ECEvolution: Shaping the Future of Early Education Conference” is designed to empower caregivers, educators, and families with the latest knowledge and resources to nurture young minds.

Conference Experience:

  • Fun Cooking Demos: Experts will show parents and children how to prepare simple, tasty, nutritious snacks and how to foster healthy eating habits.  

  • Immersive Learning Models: Explore innovative indoor/outdoor learning environments that spark curiosity, encourage exploration, and promote holistic development.

  • Wellness Activities: Massage, yoga, sound baths and more, attendees can participate in wellness activities to promote healthy lifestyles for their families.

  • Documentary Screenings: Eye-opening documentaries exploring inclusion and equity in early childhood development, followed by a panel discussion.

     

Conference Topics:

The conference will offer valuable insights and resources for educators and providers. Sessions cover a range of topics, including:

  • Early literacy

  • Parent and family engagement

  • Play-based learning strategies

  • Health and safety tips

  • Supporting multilingual learners

  • Using artificial intelligence to increase productivity

  • Creating equitable and inclusive learning environments

  • Supporting homeless children and advocating for children with disabilities

 

Conference Highlights:

  • Dr. Debra Duardo, Los Angeles County Superintendent of Schools, will give welcoming remarks.  

  • Leaders and experts from the federal Office of Head Start, California Department of Education, National Association for the Education of Young Children, and LA County Office for the Advancement of Early Care and Education will discuss opportunities and expectations of mixed delivery Universal PreKindergarten.

  • Dr. Rosemarie Allen will give the keynote address on “Revolutionizing Early Childhood”

 

  • Special workshops focused on providing support to dads and other male caregivers so they can be more involved in their children's school and life.

  • Spanish Workshops: Workshops conducted or interpreted in Spanish to help parents understand and engage in their child's education.

  • Principal Amen Rahh will deliver the keynote address “Dare to Dream” about creating a supportive, inclusive, and nurturing environment that fosters the holistic development of every child.

 

  • Award-winning children's author Maya Gonzalez will give the keynote speech on using children’s books as radical agents of change and healing, both personally and culturally.
