L.A. County Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council Accepting Applications

Students in grades 9–12 and attending a public high school in Los Angeles County are eligible to apply.

High school students across Los Angeles County are invited to apply for the 2025–26 Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council, a powerful platform to share their voices directly with Dr. Debra Duardo, L.A. County Superintendent of Schools.

This unique council brings together passionate and driven students from public high schools throughout the County to collaborate, lead and influence educational initiatives. Members will participate in a series of in-person and virtual meetings throughout the school year, contributing their insights to shape policies and programs that impact schools and communities.

Who Can Apply?

Students currently in grades 9–12 and attending a public high school in Los Angeles County are eligible to apply.

What Do Council Members Do?

Each year, students work together to design and lead meaningful projects. Past initiatives include:

  • 2024–25: Student Empowerment Summit 
    A dynamic event focused on student voice, leadership development and peer connection. Students organized workshops on topics such as Know Your Educational Rights, Financial Literacy, College and Career Readiness, Leadership Development.   • 2023–24: Animated Film on Social Justice 
    In collaboration with renowned cartoonist Lalo Alcaraz, students created an animated film exploring equity in L.A. County schools. From theme selection and storyboarding to voiceovers and editing, students led every aspect of production.
