The award celebrates public and private schools that demonstrate exceptional academic achievement or significant progress in closing opportunity gaps among student groups.

Congratulations to eight Los Angeles County schools for being recognized as 2025 California Blue Ribbon Schools. These schools were originally nominated for the National Blue Ribbon Schools program, but since the U.S. Department of Education discontinued the program, the schools will instead be honored under California’s Blue Ribbon Schools designation.

The award celebrates public and private schools that demonstrate exceptional academic achievement or significant progress in closing opportunity gaps among student groups.

Blue Ribbon schools are among the state’s highest performing based on all students’ scores, subgroups’ scores and graduation rates. State Superintendent Tony Thurmond recognized the L.A. County schools, along with 23 others across the state. These schools will be formally celebrated at the California School Recognition Program celebration in spring 2026.

Los Angeles County’s 2025 California Blue Ribbon Schools:

  • Willowbrook Middle School – Compton Unified School District

  • Anderson W. Clark Magnet High School – Glendale Unified School District

  • Chamlian Armenian School – Glendale Unified School District

  • Lucille J. Smith Elementary School – Lawndale Elementary School District

  • Clover Avenue Elementary School – Los Angeles Unified School District

  • Third Street Elementary School – Los Angeles Unified School District

  • Pantera Elementary School – Pomona Unified School District

  • Arroyo Seco Junior High School – William S. Hart Union High School District

Although this Blue Ribbon recognition will only be awarded in 2025, the California Department of Education will continue to celebrate outstanding schools across the state through other recognition programs such as California Distinguished Schools.
