Multilingual Learner Programs and Compliance
Multilingual Learner Programs ensure that students receive the appropriate support they need to grow and succeed. These programs use research-based approaches to provide students with full access to the core curriculum while supporting English language development. English learners receive both Designated ELD and Integrated ELD. All instruction is led by qualified educators who hold the appropriate credentials. The goal is to ensure every multilingual learner has equal access to grade-level learning and the opportunity to excel.
State and federal laws and the California Education Code require schools to provide equitable access to education for multilingual learners. California’s ELD Standards help ensure these obligations are met every day. California’s English Learner Roadmap gives us a vision for how to support students in ways that are inclusive, culturally responsive, and effective.
Through state and local accountability systems, we monitor progress to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed. Title III provides federal funding to help schools strengthen language programs and build welcoming environments for multilingual students and immigrant families. Federal Program
