LACOE will fly the Progress Pride flag at their administrative offices in honor of Pride month.

The Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) and Los Angeles County Board of Education recognize June as LGBTQIA+ Pride Month and hosted a Progress Pride flag raising ceremony to celebrate this month. Through the inclusive board resolution and proclamation, LACOE is committed to providing resources and encouraging schools to create safe, supportive and affirming environments for all students and staff.

LACOE staff were invited to the Progress Pride flag raising ceremony to show their pride and allyship to the LGBTQIA+ community. This event reaffirms the organization's ongoing commitment to promoting equity and inclusion for our LGBTQIA+ students, families and staff.

“LACOE remains dedicated to fostering schools where students, families and staff can feel celebrated and supported for who they truly are,” said the Los Angeles County Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Debra Duardo. “As we honor LGBTQIA+ Pride Month, let us recommit ourselves to the values of equity, diversity and inclusion, ensuring that love, acceptance and belonging are the cornerstone of every community within L.A. County and beyond.”

The event had Pride-themed breakfast treats from a local bakery whose proceeds support the LGBTQIA+ community in L.A. County. Educational materials from Out for Safe Schools and the PRISM (Providing Relevant, Inclusive Support that Matters for LGBTQ+ Students) project were available for staff along with Progress Pride flag swag.
