Over 60 community-based organizations and institutions of higher education attended an introductory gathering designed to identify new partnership opportunities with regional community schools.

A diverse range of community-based organizations and institutions of higher education recently attended a strategic partnership gathering in support of L.A. County’s Community Schools Initiative. Led by LACOE’s Greater Los Angeles Regional Transformational Assistance Center (R-TAC), the gathering served as an important introductory step in building meaningful connections between community schools and local organizations.

With over 60 participants representing organizations across L.A. County, the session provided an introduction to the community schools model known as the California Community School Partnership Program (CCSPP). Attendees received a comprehensive overview of the CCSPP framework and gained invaluable insights into its implementation process. Participants also learned about the significant role that strategic partnerships can play in successfully implementing the CCSPP grant with local educational agencies (LEAs) and school sites.

LACOE’s Community Schools Initiative proudly leads the Greater Los Angeles R-TAC, one of eight technical assistance centers in California, dedicated to supporting the implementation efforts of regional schools and LEAs that receive CCSPP funding.

“We are incredibly grateful for our community’s interest and commitment in partnering with local community schools,” shared Steve Zimmer, Strategic Partnerships Administrator of LACOE's Community Schools Initiative. “LACOE looks forward to fostering strategic partnerships between our schools and communities that enhance support services for every student and family.”

With over 500 CCSPP-funded community schools countywide, the Greater Los Angeles R-TAC currently supports the largest concentration of community schools in the nation, made possible by California’s historic CCSPP investment of $4.1 billion.

Community-based organizations, local government agencies, colleges/universities or philanthropic organizations across L.A. County interested in connecting with regional community schools are encouraged to contact LACOE’s Community Schools Initiative at 562-401-5472 or communityschools@lacoe.edu.
