We’re proud to share that Lawndale Elementary School District (LESD) has been recognized statewide for its commitment to student success, earning the 2026 Model School Attendance Review Board (SARB) award from the California State SARB. LESD was honored on March 17, 2026, at the Model SARB Awards Ceremony hosted by CASCWA, and is one of only a select group of districts recognized across California.

This prestigious designation highlights LESD’s exemplary work in reducing chronic absenteeism and strengthening student attendance through thoughtful, student-centered approaches. At the heart of this effort is a deep understanding that showing up to school each day is foundational not only to academic achievement, but also to students’ social and emotional well-being.

Under the leadership of SARB Chairperson and Director of Student Support Services Alberto Paredes, Lawndale has built a comprehensive, proactive system that prioritizes early intervention, strong family partnerships and meaningful support for students. Their work reflects a commitment to meeting students where they are and addressing barriers to attendance with compassion. By creating systems that are both preventative and responsive, LESD has fostered a culture where students feel connected and empowered to thrive.
