LACOE's 2026 Migrant Education Program Scholarship Awards Ceremony Celebrated 13 Graduates

Students in the 2025-26 cohort received $1,000 scholarships to support their studies at UCLA, UC Berkeley, Pasadena City College, Princeton University and other institutions of higher education.

The Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) celebrated the milestone achievement of 13 high school graduates from its Migrant Education Program (MEP) - Region 10 with a $1000 scholarship per student during an awards ceremony on June 17, 2026. The event honored students from nine school districts within L.A. County.

The scholarship recipients were joined by their biggest supporters, including parents, guardians, grandparents, siblings, and school counselors. The students also acknowledged the MEP staff members for their ongoing support during their high school journey, noting their encouragement to achieve beyond their wildest dreams. 

Several students are pursing degrees at colleges and universities in California, attending UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, Cal State San Bernardino, Cal State Long Beach, Cal Poly Pomona, Loyola Marymount University, Mt. Sac, Pasadena Community College. Two students are moving out of state for their studies and attending Penn State and Princeton University. We wish them amazing success as they pursue degrees in higher education.

Among the scholarship recipients were students from the following districts:

  • ABC Unified School District
  • Antelope Valley Union High School District
  • Bellflower Unified School District
  • Hacienda La Puente Unified School District
  • Long Beach Unified School District
  • Los Angeles Unified School District
  • Lynwood Unified School District
  • Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District
  • Rowland Unified School District

In attendance were representatives of scholarship donors, Vallarta Supermarkets and Espinoza Law Group. Mr. Ruben Espinoza, MEP alumni and primary attorney at Espinoza Law Group, served as the guest speaker to offer a message of encouragement and perseverance.
