Adult Ed. Designated Subjects Credentials Informational Webinar

This segment of "It's About Time!" features Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Best Practices. Participants will organize, evaluate, review and reflect on the implementation of their development of “best practice." This workshop will also guide participants to increase understanding, create and/or improve implementation of evidence-based classroom management strategies through the integration of PBIS. Application can improve attendance, academic, and behavioral challenges to support equitable learning opportunities for students in CTE classrooms.

During this workshop, participants will:

  • Evaluate the 12 Elements of a High Quality CTE Program
  • Evaluate the elements of your syllabus
  • Identify elements for effective classroom management
  • Incorporate relevant classroom routines and procedures
  • Review support resources

Developed in collaboration with LACOE's Multilingual Academic Support (MAS)/English Learners (EL) unit and Accountability and Data Literacy unit, this workshop overviews best practices for high school ELs participating in CTE Pathways. For a copy of the PowerPoint presentations, click here.

This interactive workshop for new CTE classroom teachers and administrators is a follow-up from the New Teacher Survival (Part One) held on September 15, 2021. Participants will review, evaluate, and reflect on the implementation of their development of “best practice.” Projections for future evolution and elocution of best practice will be considered. The session includes student support services, advisory committee coordination, and job market projections to corroborate our objectives. This segment features Delete the Divide, an initiative led by the Los Angeles County Internal Services Department (ISD). Delete the Divide provides opportunities to "empower youth and young adults" aged 12 to 24 living in underserved communities with minimal or no Internet access to receive training and certifications in Google Career Certifications and Meta (Facebook) Career Certifications. This segment highlights career opportunities with LACOE CTE's Los Angeles county industry partner, LA Metro, the third largest transit network in the U.S. Our featured guest was Marion J. With the Strong Workforce Program (SWP), and Carl D. Perkins V initiatives, focusing on K14 career pathway development, it is imperative that college faculty be knowledgeable about factors that are unique to the K12 setting. During this virtual workshop, participants will receive an overview of best practices to address perspectives and considerations specific to a high school student participating in a college dual enrollment CE program include: social-emotional well-being; classroom management; academic integrity; safety; campus logistics; facilities; security; and technology.

The 2nd Annual CTE Middle School Symposium 2019 was a collaborative effort by LACOE, Pomona USD, LA Metro, and Paxton Patterson: STEM Education | College & Career Ready Labs. The day’s agenda, coordinated with Paxton Patters, featured breakout sessions: Perkins and middle school grant funding, In-depth conversations with Pomona USD middle school CTE Teachers and CTE Coordinators sharing relevant experience and lessons on building a middle school CTE program, CTE Teacher credentialing, and LA Metro CTE Teacher and Student career training programs (TCAP, E3 Educator Exchange, and more!). The day also featured rotating bus tours to Cortez Science & Math Academy’s 21st Century Readiness Lab classrooms sponsored by Paxton Patterson.

DESCRIPTION

This interactive workshop for new CTE classroom teachers, coordinators, and administrators is a follow-up from the New Teacher Survival I. Participants will organize, evaluate, review and reflect on the implementation of the development of “best practice”. Projections for future evolution and elocution will be studied.

This session includes data (graduation rates, job market projections and predictions), support services, as well as opportunities to corroborate industry-alike objectives. This affords participants concrete rationalizations for program advancement and student engagement. This workshop is based heavily on survey responses from the New Teacher Survival I Workshop.

During this session, participants will:
*Incorporate the Eleven Elements of a High Quality CTE Program.
*Identify their CALPADS Pathway.
*Learn of LACOE support services for strategic classroom management.
*Evaluate key elements of their course components.
*Explore job market projections and predictions.
*Establish a CTE teacher support network.
