LACOE provides school and community college districts in Los Angeles County with comprehensive resources for obtaining facilities funding, and construction, maintenance, energy management and regulatory information.

As a part of our services, LACOE conducts monthly Facilities Network meetings. Speakers include experts in school facilities construction and maintenance and representatives of state agencies that play key policy roles in the new construction and modernization approval processes.

California has the nation’s most variable climate, and droughts are a recurring feature. Many areas in Southwest California experienced below normal precipitation during the current water year (October 1, through September 30).

Despite the abundant precipitation and ample snowpack observed so far this winter, there are still parts of California that are Abnormally Dry, or are in a Moderate Drought. It is important for Californians to continue to do their part to conserve water.

The U.S. Drought Monitor classifies dryness and drought into five categories of increasing severity:

  • Abnormally Dry (D0)
  • Moderate Drought (D1)
  • Severe Drought (D2)
  • Extreme Drought (D3)
  • Exceptional Drought (D4)
