At a time when revenues are declining and California faces tough choices, maintaining funding for public education reflects a deep and necessary commitment to our students and schools.
“The Governor's revised proposal preserves essential TK-12 education funding, providing stability for schools despite the state's difficult fiscal climate. At a time when revenues are declining and California faces tough choices, maintaining funding for public education reflects a deep and necessary commitment to our students and schools.
We are especially pleased to see continued support for key initiatives that directly benefit children and families, such as the expansion of Universal Transitional Kindergarten, the provision of free school meals for all students, and sustained funding for afterschool and expanded learning programs. These programs are critical to supporting the whole child and helping students thrive academically and emotionally.
While we remain mindful of the overall fiscal landscape, we are encouraged by this budget proposal's focus on key educational priorities. We remain committed to supporting schools and communities impacted by the recent wildfires and windstorms in Los Angeles County, and we appreciate the Governor’s recognition of this urgent need in the May Revision. We look forward to continuing our advocacy to ensure these communities receive the resources they need to recover and rebuild. We will continue to work in close partnership with state leaders to ensure the successful implementation and long-term sustainability of these vital programs, ultimately benefiting our students, teachers and communities."
