The Blueprint provides a replicable, people-centered approach for local education agencies to move from early exploration to scaled adoption
The Los Angeles County Office of Education is proud to announce the launch of its AI Blueprint: A Change Management Approach for Sustainable AI Adoption. Released during Digital Citizenship Weeks, this strategic framework guides school districts in integrating artificial intelligence responsibly to support students and staff.
The Blueprint provides a replicable, people-centered approach for local education agencies to move from early exploration to scaled adoption, focusing on responsible use, ethical practices and measurable impact. It builds on LACOE’s three-year journey with AI-enabled tools and is part of a broader initiative that includes a week of hands-on AI literacy training for staff.
"The AI Blueprint represents our commitment to lead with purpose, prioritizing people, equity and ethical practice as we embrace innovation,” said Dr. Debra Duardo, Los Angeles Superintendent of Schools. “This is about empowering our educators and supporting our districts with a clear, practical guide to change management for AI adoption."
The Blueprint builds on LACOE’s Generative AI in TK-12 Education Guidelines by providing practical guidance for leading change and managing the human side of AI transformation. It offers actionable strategies, examples and tools for local education agencies to engage teams, start simple AI trials and measure progress.
LACOE invites district leaders to use the Blueprint as a conversation starter, a source of practical examples and a guide for piloting new AI-enabled workflows. As a living document, the Blueprint will continue to evolve, with ongoing updates added to reflect best practices and real-world applications.
LACOE is committed to supporting staff, measuring progress and refining our approach to ensure lasting impact. Together, we’re building a future-ready, human-led workplace where responsible AI empowers us all. For more information, visit LACOE’s website.
