Technology, Learning and Support Services (TLSS) promotes the effective use of technology to improve teaching, learning, technology leadership, and administration through professional development, digital resources, and regional support in 80 Los Angeles County school districts serving over 1.5 million K-12 students.

In addition, TLSS also provides training and support services, including a service desk and personal computing support for various technology initiatives within LACOE administration and school sites.

Instructional Technology Outreach (ITO) is the technology training arm of LACOE to provide a variety of professional development workshops. Contact ito@lacoe.edu for customized trainings and support.

Tech Lasso Podcast

Tech Lasso is a new Podcast from Instructional Technology Outreach at the Los Angeles County Office of Education. A variety of guest speakers, including fellow ITO Coordinators, engage in conversation to help everyone navigate the ever-evolving digital technologies used in the classrooms today.

eLibrary Services is the library unit for Los Angeles County Office of Education. K-12 educators, librarians, and administrators throughout Los Angeles County have access to our Educator Library, a rich and robust digital collection of ebooks and audiobooks. 

Our Librarian of Record services program supports and improves school library programs and enables contracting districts to meet the requirements of California Education Code. Contact els@lacoe.edu for more information.

All L.A. County K-12 educators and administrators are eligible for an eLibrary Services Card. An educational email address is required.

The Leading Edge Flex certification program offers educators self-guided professional learning pathways and opportunities to engage anytime and anywhere. Experience online professional learning and earn certification backed by a national alliance of nonprofits, universities and educational agencies.

Through our online, personalized learning platform, participants choose from activities within Leading Edge missions to earn their certification. Each mission has been designed and developed with the educator in mind, effectively balancing technology integration, appropriate tools, and useful resources. Activities are short and incremental, allowing learners to experience bite-sized learning and choice. Participants have a full year to complete their certification online.

The Personal Computing Support (PCS) team supports the computing needs of students and staff at LACOE education sites across Los Angeles County. To reduce travel delays, the PCS team dispatches technicians from the Downey Integration Lab, Downey local site and regional base remote school sites. These individuals are able to resolve hardware and software issues related to PC, Macintosh, tablets, smart boards, projectors, and smartphones. Software services range from Break / Fix to Custom Solution Design / Deployment.

LACOE's Help Desk is your first point of contact with any computer related issue, including hardware, software, internet connection, servers, etc. You can send an email with a detailed description of your needs to HelpDesk@lacoe.edu or pick up the telephone and call them directly at (562) 922-6646.

The TS Help Desk operates 24 hours a day providing customers with advice, guidance, and rapid restoration of services. Our team of highly skilled engineers will be there to create the correct trouble ticket and get you up and running in the quickest time possible.

Laura Wilson (wilson_laura@lacoe.edu)

Laura Wilson currently works as Coordinator III with Instructional Technology Outreach (ITO), for the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE). Prior to her current position, she has served in education for over 20 years as a teacher, literacy, curriculum, and senior program specialist. Laura also works part-time as an ESL teacher with adult students. She holds an M.A. in Child and Adolescent Literacy from Loyola Marymount University.

Alejandro Chavira (chavira_alejandro@lacoe.edu)

Alejandro Chavira has been an Instructional Technology Outreach Coordinator at Los Angeles County Office of Education for 8 years where he provides instructional technology integration training and support for education staff. Previously, he worked as a social studies and ELA teacher for 10 years. He has also worked with the district's data team to compile test data reports. Alejandro enjoys working on video media production and learning new technology tools that can be used in the classroom. He holds an M.A. in Education Administration.

Christopher A. Hoang, Ed.D, has been in education for over 15 years working in a variety of settings: an after-school program director, tutor, science teacher, school administrator, and, most recently, instructional technology outreach with LACOE. His passion is supporting educators to become comfortable and confident in the use of educational technology to support students.

Scott has worked in K-12 education for 30 years and in higher education for 20 years. He has taught at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. In addition to working as an Instructional Technology Outreach Coordinator at the LACOE, Scott teaches in a masters-level educational technology program. He's a Google Certified Innovator who has earned the Time Warner National Teacher Award and the Classroom of the Future Foundation’s Innovative Educator Award. Scott recently completed his doctorate in Educational Leadership from UCLA.

Cathy Rodriguez is a Coordinator II with Instructional Technology Outreach at Los Angeles County Office of Education. She is inspired by emerging technologies such as the Metaverse, Immersive, virtual, and augmented reality and their use in the classroom. A futurist and contemplative, Cathy enjoys philosophy, science fiction and cosmology books. She has a background in sales and marketing, and teaching experience as an adjunct professor at USC, Pepperdine University, UCLA, and Cerritos Community College. In her spare time, she enjoys a good cup of tea, photography, trying out new recipes in the kitchen, and walking on the beach in Santa Monica.

Mark has been a Coordinator II with Instructional Technology Outreach since August of 2021. Before joining LACOE, he served in Lynwood, Inglewood, and various districts in Orange County, California as a K-8 teacher, Digital Coach, Technology Coordinator and site administrator. Mark holds Google Trainer, Leading Edge Digital Educator, Administrator, and Blended Learning certifications. He got the classroom technology bug almost 30 years ago, with his first teaching assignment in a Commodore 64 computer lab.

Kapui "Kyip" Yip (yip_kapui@lacoe.edu)

“Kyip” is a coordinator for the Los Angeles County Office of Education. He is a former science teacher and district administrator who has worked for years to integrate technology into the classroom. He enjoys data collection and analysis for program evaluation, educational decision-making and technology-related professional development. Kyip is a self described übergeek and fell in love computers before computers were cool.
